How to Play Mega Joker Slot
Mega Joker has 5 paylines on its three reels and three rows, and as usual with more classic one-armed bandits, you only win when you get three identical symbols in a row. To play, follow these steps:
- Visit a NetEnt casino and select a coin value of one, two, or ten, which means a betting range between one and one hundred kronor. You can choose to bet either one or ten coins, which also affects your chances of winning (see next paragraph).
- If you bet only one coin, you will play only on payline number one, which is the middle row horizontally. However, if you bet ten coins (regardless of the coin value), you will play on all five paylines.
- When playing with ten coins as your bet, you can also win a so-called “Mystery” win, which awards between 20 and 400 coins if you land three jokers on a payline.
Payouts and Odds
If you bet 10 coins, landing 3 chest symbols on a winning line awards 2000 coins. The theoretical Return to Player (RTP) percentages are affected by how much you bet. If you play with only one coin, your RTP is 85.28%, meaning that for every 100 coins wagered, 85.28 coins go back to the players and 23.1 coins go to the casino.
When playing with ten coins, your odds are significantly better and vary between 89.1% and 99.0%. The varying RTP is due to the special game (which you can read more about below) offering certain choices, meaning there is an optimal way to play. We have not figured out the optimal strategy yet, but with a 99% RTP, it may be worth trying to figure out.
Game Symbols
The value of the symbols in the base game is, in descending order: joker, treasure chest, clock, melon, lemon, and cherry. The symbols in the Supermeter game are, in the following descending order: joker, seven, clock, melon, grapes, lemon, orange, and cherry.
Mega Joker Bonus & Progressive Jackpot
There are no wild or scatter symbols in this slot machine for free spins or bonus rounds. However, after each win below 2000 coins, you have the opportunity to bet in Supermeter mode.
The Supermeter game is the set of reels you see above the base game, and the payouts are slightly larger here. You play with all five paylines, and this is where you can really score big wins, as all winnings are saved, and you can increase (or decrease) your bet after each round.
When you are satisfied with the value of your Supermeter, click the “collect” button, and your winnings are transferred to your account, returning you to the base game. The maximum win in Supermeter mode is 2000 coins, and if you reach this, the bonus feature ends automatically, and you return to the base game.
Jackpot
3% of each bet made in the game goes to the jackpot, but it’s a bit unclear how this progressive jackpot is won. According to the game rules, it can be randomly triggered at any time, but it is not specified if any particular symbols are required.
The odds of winning the jackpot are also supposed to increase with the size of your bet. The jackpot cannot be won in the Supermeter game, and bets in that game do not contribute to the jackpot since you have already paid your share with your initial bet.
Verdict
Mega Joker is very reminiscent of Jackpot 6000 and also features a progressive jackpot to play for. It is a classic one-armed bandit in digital form that is relatively simple yet entertaining.
The strength lies in the fast-paced gameplay and, of course, the jackpot. The downside is that the sound effects might be perceived as a bit dull for those who enjoy modern video slots, the graphics feel somewhat dated, and the low bet level might deter high rollers. However, remember that this slot machine is designed with the original one-armed bandits in mind, and in imitation, NetEnt has succeeded quite well.
Despite these shortcomings, Mega Joker is one of the absolute best slot machines with the classic three-reel setup and is perfect for those who may have just started exploring online slot machines.
